Odd sock challenge
|
This pack has been created to be flexible, fun and simple to run with Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers, Girlguiding volunteers, and Trefoil Guild. Whilst it’s been designed for a Girlguiding audience, those from other organisations or individuals and families are welcome to use it too.
You might choose to run the challenge as an exciting “showdown”, or use the activities across a number of relaxed, fun meetings with an odd-sock theme. Odd sock activities can be enjoyed during group meetings, at camp, or as part of a larger event day. The possibilities are endless! We’d love you to “save a sock” during this challenge. We encourage you to find all those odd socks, the ones that are feeling lonely or sad, hidden at the back of the drawer, or destined for the bin. Let’s reuse them in a fun and creative way. |
What is in the challenge?
The pack contains lots of ideas for activities including sections on:
We invite you to choose the activities that work best for your group, tick off the challenges completed and celebrate everyone’s creativity, teamwork and personal best. It’s important that you make the challenge meaningful for those taking part, and set challenge levels accordingly. We encourage those taking part to choose which activities they'd like to take part in. There are lots of ways groups can make decisions together. Girlguiding’s ‘participation on a plate’ resource has lots of ideas to help grown ups ensure that everyone is involved in the planning.
Please feel free to adapt the ideas or add your own odd sock challenges to make the pack work for your group. We’d love to see what you get up to.
