Guide Badges
Guides was the original section of Girlguiding, founded in 1910. The Guide programme has seen several badge changes over the years.
The original Guide interest badges were changed from having 'Girl Guides' to just 'Guides' on them in 1994/5 when the organisation name was changed from 'The Girl Guide Association' to 'The Guide Association'. However the most significant change came in 2003 when the whole Guide programme changed. Then, in 2013 the badge designs were changed again. These remained in use until 2019 when the new programme for all Guiding sections was introduced in September 2018 and the old programme officially retired the following September.
In 2013 Go For Its were introduced, which were initially credit card sized cards on completion. With the 2013 update, these Go For Its were changed to cloth badges.

Brownie Badges
Brownies was the second section of Girlguiding, starting in 1914. The original badges were brown triangles and the only signifcant change to those badges was when the text changed from having 'Girl Guides' to 'Brownie Guides' on them in 1994/95 when the association name was changed. The Brownie programme had a big overhaul in 2003 when the traditional brown triangular badges were retired and the more modern yellow diamond shaped badges came into use. There were also advanced badges that were blue, and special Big Brownie Birthday badges available in 2014 only. These diamond badges remained in use until 2019 when the new programme for all Guiding sections was introduced in September 2018 and the old programme officially retired the following September.
